HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

Department of Mathematical Sciences which houses the degree programmes in Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics is one of the pioneer Departments in the University.

The Department admitted eighteen students, six students and forty-four students at the inception to B. Tech. degree programme in Computer Science, B. Tech. degree programme in Statistics and B.Tech. degree programme in Mathematics respectively.

It has a laboratory which it shares with the ICT unit of the University, with facility for internet connectivity and adequate laboratory technical staff. The department is being overseen by a Reader as the acting head of department. Beginning from the second session, more staff have been recruited both at full-time and associateship cadres.

Also the department has additional two laboratories. Furthermore, the department  has a digital trainer for laboratory work on digital electronics/computer logic. Some of the software packages being used in teaching and installed on the computers include Visual Packages, C, C++ and Java.
