    Project Management integrates Management with Engineering Technology. It provides the bridge between Management and conventional Engineering technology. The programme aims at training Managers with adequate up-to-date competence in the area of Projects and Management Technology. The programme, based upon a foundation of basic sciences, engineering and economics combines management and technology disciplines such as production, construction, accounting, marketing, agriculture, medicals and humans’ resources management etc. which are required to execute physical and economic projects both in the private and public sectors with utmost efficiency. Graduates of the programme will be suitable for employment in all establishments where projects are conceived or executed.

     

    Programme Objectives

    Graduates of this programme shall be distinguished by their professional excellence, integrity and entrepreneurial culture. Specifically, the programme will:

    (a)  Inculcate into students the basic knowledge and skills in all areas of project management;

    (b) Produce graduates with science and technological background that will manage productive resources most efficiently;

          (c)  Produce graduates that will execute physical and economic projects in the private and public sectors of the economy;

    (d)   Providing students with expertise needed in National Development plans and projects;

    (e)   Produce graduates who will harmonize their technical and management knowledge and skill to accelerate the industrial development of the nation;

    (f) Produce graduates who are truly self-reliant as enterprise project managers; and

    (g) Produce graduates who will have competitive edge in the labour market.

                        

    Learning Outcomes 

    The learning objectives and outcomes are designed to provide students with capacity for critical thinking, technical knowledge, communication, teamwork, ethics and social responsibility, entrepreneurial skills, and use of technology.

    On successful completion of this Programme, students will be able to:

    • Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and risks.
    • Resource Management: Efficiently allocate and manage project resources to ensure successful completion within budget and timeline constraints.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and engage with project stakeholders to manage expectations, communication, and relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks, assess their impact on project outcomes, and develop strategies to mitigate and manage risks effectively.
    • Quality Control: Implement quality assurance processes to ensure deliverables meet project requirements and stakeholder expectations.
    • Time Management: Utilize project scheduling techniques and tools to effectively manage project timelines, milestones, and critical path activities.
    • Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop project budgets, track expenses, and implement cost control measures to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
    • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate project teams to collaborate, communicate effectively, and work towards project success.
    • Change Management: Anticipate and manage changes in project scope, requirements, or objectives to adapt to evolving project needs and stakeholder priorities.
    • Project Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor project progress, evaluate outcomes against predefined metrics, and prepare comprehensive project reports for stakeholders.

    By mastering these learning outcomes, students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully plan, execute, and monitor projects of varying complexities. They will be prepared to handle project management challenges, drive project success, and deliver value to stakeholders in diverse organizational settings.

     

    ADMMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    a) UTME

    Candidate seeking admission into the Project Management programme must possess at least minimum of credit passes in five ‘O’ level subjects at not more than two (2) sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture , Geography, Economics, Tourism, Civic Education at  WAEC, GCE, NECO or NABTEB.

    UTME Subjects: The U.T.M.E subjects are English Language, Physics, and any two of the subjects listed in O’ Level requirements.

    b) Direct Entry

    1.Holders of ND Certificate in relevant areas of Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Management Sciences with a minimum of Lower credit.

    2. GCE (A/L), JUPEB, IJMB passes or its equivalent in two subjects selected from the following: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Commerce and Government.
