Philosophy of the Programme:
The philosophy of the B.Sc. Cybersecurity program is to equip the students with theoretical and practical knowledge in the study of Cybersecurity and to produce a well-trained graduate to meet the ever-increasing demand of cybersecurity professionals. It is also to build capacity and develop human capital in the field of cybersecurity, to safeguard business transactions, corporate assets, critical infrastructure and all cyber operations in cyberspace, nationally and globally. The programme is also designed to produce graduates that are innovative and can be self-dependent with problem-solving orientation.
The programme objectives are to:
(i) produce graduates with requisite foundation knowledge of cybersecurity, skills and strategies that would enable them to detect and prevent cyber-fraud;
(ii) empower graduates with the ability to analyze cybersecurity threats, attacks and risks for organizations, with the capacity to develop detective codes and supportive software agents to address cybersecurity threats;
(iii) graduates with knowledge of cryptography and steganography for privacy of information on computer systems and digital forensic science techniques for the detection of cybercrimes;
(iv) produce graduates who can think critically about cyber intelligence security issues, develop and implement tactics strategic to cybersecurity, drawing on national and international recent case studies;
(v) prepare graduates for the purpose of self-employment, cybersecurity-based job placement and professional practice in government and industries.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS INTO CYBER SECURITY PROGRAMME
Five (O) Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics, Data processing, Computer Studies, Statistics, Geography and Economics.
UTME Subjects
A candidate must sit for English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry/Biology/Geography/Economics.
NOTE: Any combination of GCE ‘O’ Level Certificate, IJMB ‘O’ Level Certificate, Cambridge ‘O’ Level Certificate, NABTEB ‘O’ Level Certificate, NECO ‘O’ Level Certificate and any acceptable equivalent will be considered.
PROGRAMME DURATION
The duration for the B.Sc Cyber Security shall be four academics sessions for students that entered the university by UTME admission and three academic sessions for those by direct entry admission.
Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa was established by the Ondo State government in 2008. It was initially named as Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH).
It is a technology-based institution, which aims at providing the needed manpower training for industrial and technological development of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.
