The advice was given by OAUSTECH's Deputy Director, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Paul Adeagbo, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa, while addressing the Manuwa students on Wednesday, 23 November, 2022 at the school premises.
Adeagbo revealed to the young learners schooling in the late Dr. Olusegun Agagu's home town that it was by setting specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound (SMART) goals that they could maximize the opportunity of schooling and realize their full potentials in life.
The Deputy Director stated that setting smart goals would make the students focused and be inflexibly studious to succeed in their various examinations, saying that the image of the set goals would help avoid wasting time on irrelevant activities.
He urged them to write down their goals whether short, medium or long term in order to remember to continue to pursue them, explaining that they should desire success, be determined, be diligent and be disciplined to succeed in life.
The OAUSTECH's public relations professional said they could become whatever they want to be in life irrespective of their family backgrounds or socioeconomic factors, as he highlighted the various programmes on offer in his institution such as preliminary programmes, regular undergraduate programmes, JUPEB programme, Top-up programmes, and post-graduate programmes.
He explained that OAUSTECH, which is in partnerships and collaborations with leading universities across the globe, would commence a Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology and Bachelor of Nursing Science in addition to Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Bachelor of Science in Project Management to create more opportunities for admission of candidates from the catchment area into the institution.
Responding, the school principal, Mr. Taye Akinkoye, who had invited OAUSTECH Public Relations team to address the students, thanked the institution for coming to inspire the secondary students whom he described as prospective candidates.
Mr. Akinkoye said he was sure that the students had gained insight into smart goal setting and the four Ds of success explained by the guest speaker, reminding his students to always bear in mind the message delivered by the OAUSTECH's team, comprising Messrs Adeagbo and Rotimi Adekunle, and Mrs Folasade Adesanoye.
On hearing that OAUSTECH would start a Bachelor of Nursing Science in the coming session, 2022/2023 academic session, the students clapped thunderously to the admiration of the visitors, saying that they would consider OAUSTECH as their first choice of institution.
