He attended The Apostolic Grammar School, Ogbomoso from 1979 to 1984. He secured admission into Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun in 1990 to study Biology/Chemistry and graduated in flying colours in 1993. He then proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State for Bachelor of Science Education in Biology (B.Sc. [Ed.]) between 1995 and 1998. He was exempted from the National Youth Service Scheme on the ground of age. He later attended the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State for his Master’s Degree in Botany. He bagged his M.Sc. in Botany (Plant Anatomy/Taxonomy) in 2002 and proceeded for his Ph.D programme immediately. He completed his Ph.D programme in 2009, specializing in Plant Taxonomy/Anatomy with special interests in systematics of Nigerian rattan palms.

He worked briefly with University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) as an Assistant Lecturer between August 2003 and September 2005. He joined the services of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State in October 2005 as an Assistant Lecturer and was promoted to the rank of Lecturer II in October 2008. He left FUNAAB in June 2011 to take an appointment with Ondo State (now Olusegun Agagu) University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH) as Lecturer I. Following some vacant academic positions and the need to fill some senior academic ranks in the Department of Biological Sciences, he was encouraged to apply for the post of Senior Lecturer in December 2011. He was appointed and he held this position till September 2015. He was later promoted to the post of an Associate Professor in October 2015, and then in October 2019, he was appointed a Full Professor.

Prof. Aworinde has supervised several undergraduates and is currently supervising M.Sc. and Ph.D students in OAUSTECH. He is an external examiner to many universities, reviewer to many academic journals, and belongs to some relevant professional bodies. He has over 45 published articles in reputable journals in Nigeria and overseas. His research interests include: Plant Anatomy, Plant Taxonomy, Ethnomedicine, and Biodiversity Conservation.

He was a co-researcher in a TETFund IBR Grant 2021 (Ethnobotanical survey, conservation status, and micro-propagation of threatened/rare medicinal plants in Ondo State, Nigeria), and currently, the Principal Investigator, in a TETFund IBR Grant 2022 (Expansion and digitization of the herbarium specimens of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Nigeria).
