    Governor Aiyedatiwa pledges completion of uncompleted projects in OAUSTECH

    The Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has promised to complete all the abandoned projects at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa.

    The Governor, who is the Visitor to the Institution, gave the assurance while speaking at the 9th convocation ceremony of OAUSTECH held on Wednesday, 4th March, 2026.

    The uncompleted projects include the iconic School of Science building, School of ICT building, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) students' hostels.

    The Visitor represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Segun Omojuwa, reaffirmed his commitment to qualitative and infrastructural development of education system in the Ondo State.

    Speaking further, he promised to support the University in bridging the gap between town and gown relationships in order to tap into the vast potential of the Blue Economy to ensure the smooth sailing of the state.

    “I am proud to announce that we will complete the outstanding abandoned projects by OSOPADEC and NDDC, including the School of Science Building, ICT building, and road projects started by the previous administrations".

    “These projects will further enhance the learning environment and contribute to the overall development of the university."

    “Our EASE agenda, which emphasises Education, Security, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, and Infrastructure Development, is a testament to our commitment to building a better Ondo State,” the Governor stated.

    Governor Aiyedatiwa seized the opportunity of the auspicious occasion to commend OAUSTECH's VC, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa for repositioning the institution, by increasing the number of Schools/ Faculties in the Institution from three to seven and for increasing the students' population from about 5000 to 12,000 in less than five years in office.

    The Visitor equally applauded the Vice-Chancellor for some other feats, which include making staff welfare his greatest priority, introducing innovative programmes like BSc Cyber Security, BSc Marine Science, BSc Meteorology, higher degrees in Engineering and Engineering Technology among others.

    The Governor congratulating the graduands on their remarkable accomplishments, reminded them that they now have the responsibility to make a meaningful contribution to the society through the knowledge, skills and values that have been imparted on them by the University.

    “I charge you to be ambassadors of our University, to uphold its values and to strive for excellence in all that you do,” Governor Aiyedatiwa tasked.

    Earlier, OAUSTECH's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, who reeled out his achievements in the past four years, said that the institution was facing lots of infrastructural challenges, through a number of uncompleted projects which littered the institution over the years.

    He charged the graduating students to continue their journey of learning and discovery, remain curious, open minded and embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and determination.

    “The education you have received here has equipped you not only with knowledge and skills, but also with values of excellence, integrity and services.

    “As you step into the world, remember that the future belongs to those who dare to dream and act on their dreams. Be ambassadors of OAUSTECH, be agents of positive change and, be leaders that our nation and the world need,” Prof. Ologunorisa charged.

    According to the Vice-Chancellor, the total number of graduands for the 2024/2025 session is 1,452, with 50 graduated in First Class category, 594 in Second Class Upper Division, 691 Second Class Lower Division and 115 graduated in Third Class Division.

    The overall Best Graduating Student was Wale Isiah Agboola (Male) from Electrical/Electronics Department (4.90 CGPA), while Dominion Oyindamola Akinwunmi (Female ) from Computer Science Department emerged Best Graduating Student with 4.89 CGPA.

    Rounding off, the Vice-Chancellor informed the gathering that Mr. Oluwaseun Adesina Olukoya emerged the first produced PhD student of the institution with PhD in Mathematics (Complex Analysis).

    The Convocation was graced by politicians, academics, captains of industries, traditional rulers, staff, students, parents and other well wishers, while prizes and cash rewards were doled out to Best Graduating Student and other First Class students.

    Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa was established by the Ondo State government in 2008. It was initially named as Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH).
